SmartStart partnered with Rippleworks to evaluate their organizational effectiveness.

SmartStart envisions a South Africa where every child has access to quality early childhood development programmes that offer the cognitive, social, emotional, and language skills necessary for learning and success. To do that, SmartStart utilizes a social franchising model where they develop a core curriculum and then train their franchisees, SmartStarters, in the ECD methodology. Through its franchise model, SmartStart delivers quality educational outcomes for children and creates new employment opportunities. This enables more women to work and stimulates economic activity in some of the most under-resourced communities.

One of SmartStart’s top priorities going into this project was evaluating their strengths and pain points to achieve their five-year goals.

SmartStart partnered with Wagner Denuzzo, an expert in guiding leaders of startups, private equity firms, and their portfolio companies to success. Together, they:

• Mobilized key stakeholders around a shared goal. 

• Identified gaps towards reaching their goals. 

• Created working streams and new operating models to fill those gaps.
